"Wagashi",
the delicate pastry of small
confections served during tea,
is a gentle and spiritual Japanese
art form which interprets nature,
legend, and lore. Starting its
calendar in November when the
new year begins, Wagashi subtlely
weaves a tapestry of edibles
with inspiration from ancient
poetry, memorable Japanese traditions,
and the nuances of changing seasons
reflected in trees, flowers,
and grasses.
Paying homage to the rich soul
of Wagashi, artist Michele Hester
explores many unique textural and
aesthetic renditions made possible
by combining SugarVeil with
the beauty and lushness of Wagashi.
